The paintings in this series pair images with voices sounded in truncated texts positioned on a reserved section of empty canvas. They are composed as fragments of imaginary documents or incomplete narratives.
By combining words with pictures, pairing a poetry of language with a poetry of imagery, I feel I can offer the viewer complex notions requiring a species of reciprocal thinking too general for preconception, bias or categorization but open to an individual's unique experience.
Though a viewer may find each canvas seems to have its own unique intensity of purpose, the voice sounded in the text should not be presumed to be the artist’s alone. Consider each as one would consider the voice of a character in a play; a voice one step removed from that of the author.
